The goat is a member of the animal family Bovidae and the goat-antelope subfamily Caprinae, meaning it is closely related to the sheep. There are over 300 distinct breeds of goat.

Tibenach Rise procures and breeds Boer Goats, successful breeding means Boer Goats have a large frame and high meat production – coupled with the Goats natural foraging properties – as opposed to Sheep and Cattle who graze- and low water requirements, Goat farming for Tibenach Rise is sustainable and well suited for the Leyburn area.
